Causing Narcissism: How parents cause and prevent narcissism in their children.
A few months ago, I wrote a few pieces and put together a podcast on narcissism. I first explained what it was and then talked about a few dangerous concepts. I promised that I would eventually talk about prevention and treatment. Well, here it is. This is the first of two on the parental role in prevention.
In this podcast, we find out that narcissism is on the rise. As narcissism grows, more individuals are becoming self-centered, entitled, grandiose, exploitative, and prone to addiction. This is having a critical impact on society, families and individuals. Narcissism can ruin a family. It is one of the chief causes of divorce, and broken hearts. But there is good news. Parents may be able to stop it.
In this podcast, Stephen Murdock, M.S., an expert in narcissism, joins us as we discuss the cause. We identify the four main parental mistakes leading to development of narcissism and implications for correcting these mistakes. We also learn that in most cases, the development of narcissism can be prevented.
As a society, we need to understand more about this modern-day dilemma. Here’s a good chance.
